Our History

Upon completion of initial market evaluations, it became clear that although there was a variety of software available for petroleum exploration, there was no efficient means of converting maps and well logs into digital form so computers could use the information.
1991
NeuraLog is introduced at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts annual conferences. Utilizing neural network driven automatic curve tracing and incorporating suggestions from NeuraLog users, it becomes known as the best well log digitizing tool available.
1992
NeuraMap is created to automate data capture for maps and drawings. Designed primarily through customer input and modeled after NeuraLog, it is selected by Landmark Graphics as a replacement product for ZCAP. NeuraMap’s vast capabilities enable it to be applied to other industries such as Environmental Planning and Protection as well as the Petroleum Industry.
1995
NeuraSection is released as the world’s first hybrid cross section tool. It utilizes standard raster well log images or digital well log files, allowing the geoscientist to create fully functional cross sections in a matter of minutes. NeuraSection greatly reduces evaluation time thereby significantly increasing productivity. Neuralog Consulting Services is formed at the request of Neuralog clients to aid them in retrieving valuable data in a timely and cost effective manner. Neuralog’s staff of highly qualified and experienced technicians, as well as a full time geologist, ensures accurate data capture and rapid turnaround time.
1998
NeuraScanner is developed as the first continuous feed, unlimited length scanner and copier produced specifically for the Oil and Gas Industry. It is designed to fit into a standard size briefcase and weigh less than 15 pounds. Now previously inaccessible data can be regenerated and utilized at the convenience of the geoscientist.
1999
Improvements are made to all Neuralog software applications in the Neuralog Professional Suite with regular releases. Development of NeuraDB begins, Neuralog’s database and archival application.
2000 - 2006
Neuralog begins offering the NeuraLaser well log printer.
2004
NeuraScanner 2 is released with significant improvements in both board and image sensor technology. The new NeuraScanner produces a crisper image, is quieter, and scans significantly faster than its predecessor.
2006
NeuraDB is released in both North and South America. Volumetrics and Reserves functionality is added to the NeuraMap Digitizing Software.
2007
Neuralog releases the NeuraLaserColor, an innovative high speed color well log printer. With the fastest print speeds on the market, quality well logs can be produced cost-effectively.
2009
NeuraJet17 is added to the product line to enable customers to print new wider well log displays up to 17 inches wide.
2011
Neuralog develops a solution for the chemical labeling market to allow for more efficient in-house printing. The NeuraLabel division is created with the introduction of a high-speed full-color, one-pass drum label printer that meets GHS requirements.
2012
Neuralog develops the fastest color laser log printer on the market. NeuraLaserColor II is an 11 inch per second, unlimited length log printing solution. The automated paper handing and top of form log printing make this printer ideal for Oil and Gas operations. NeuraDB is moved to the industry partner PetroWeb in exchange for an interest in that company.
2013
Neuralog develops Desktop, an application to organize and manage wells, logs, and related documents. Desktop gives geoscientists the ability to evaluate and analyze geological data within one comprehensive work space. Through a powerful GIS-based interface, users can quickly access, visualize, evaluate, and manage their projects.
2014
Neuralog releases the 300x, the latest breakthrough in well log printing. With speeds up to 14 inches per second, the 300x delivers high resolution, full-color quality logs directly to your desktop. This personal well log printer is small enough to sit on a desktop and also prints both full-scale and half-scale logs.
2015
Neuralog introduces the Neuralog Z3 well log printer to replace the NeuraLaserColor 2 product line. The Neuralog Z3 becomes the new industry standard for laser-based well log printing.
2018
The 2020 version of NeuraLog digitizing software is released. This major release includes a number of improvements including improved auto-tracing, enhanced depth calibration, and an upgraded user experience with the introduction of Project Explorer navigation feature.

With the downturn in the Oil & Gas industry, development of a new low-cost monthly subscription is accelerated and rolled out in early 2020. Neuralog Pro is an all-in-one integrated system that incorporates all Neuralog modules at one price.
2020
As the company moves into its third decade, Neuralog continues to improve and develop new hardware and software solutions, and strives to achieve its vision of providing affordable and practical product solutions for its consumers, partners, and community.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Neuralog is comprised of Mr. Kenneth Land, President and Chief Technology Officer, Ms. Lorraine Fernandez, Director of Operations, and Mrs. Sherry Land.

Kenneth P. Land serves as President and Chief Technology Officer and as a board member. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University and is an expert in image processing and neural network applications. Mr. Land actively researches advancements in computer technology and applications across a number of industries, incorporating those that would most benefit Neuralog clients. 

Mr. Land’s extensive product development experience has allowed Neuralog to respond quickly to the changing needs of the Oil & Gas Industry.

Lorraine Fernandez joined Neuralog in 2010.  Before becoming Neuralog’s Operations Director, Ms. Fernandez oversaw Neuralog’s Accounting and Support departments.  She has been instrumental in the automation of many aspects of the company relating to those departments.

Ms. Fernadez joined the Neuralog Board of Directors in January 2023 and plays an active role in corporate managment.

Sherry A. Land has worked as a software engineer for Neuralog since its start in the early 1990’s, specializing in human-device interaction, with a focus on quality and user experience.  Mrs. Land received a BS in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Houston.  She also holds a Masters in Computer Science from Rice University. 

Mrs. Land worked several years as an engineer in the Intelligent Systems section of the Artificial Intelligence branch at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas before leaving the space industry to join her husband, Kenneth P. Land, at Neuralog.
